As part of my Victorian tile restoration service which I do all over North London, I actively undertake many porch or front step Victorian and Quarry tiled restoration jobs. Restoring your original Victorian or Quarry porch tiles goes quite along way for relatively low cost.
This is because Such a small porch area with original Victorian or Quarry tiles can make such a big difference to the appeal of the house when they are restored. When these tiles are alive and eye catching, people really seam to appreciate their age and antiquity.
What’s involved in A quarry or Victorian porch tile restoration?
Deep cleaning: Original porch tiles are sometimes a bit stained. White tiles I find a bit harder to clean as whites show the staining much more than colourful tiles. Although small I can spend a good few hours with all types of detergents, cleaning processes and hand held equipment to clean them as good as they can be cleaned. If they still are not at an acceptable level we have the option in most cases to use abrasives and then lastly we can also replace the odd badly stained tiles with new reproduction Victorian ones.
Repairs: After the cleaning part we do repairs to the tiles when they are damage or missing etc. These can be with salvaged old Victorian or quarry tiles or in most cases I just use the new reproduction Victorian tiles in the appropriately matched colours.
I order bigger new tiles and just make up the exact sizes of the damaged or missing shapes on site. It always goes wrong when you try order them in the correct shapes and sizes from the supplier.
