Stone cleaning and polishing

If your marble or stone looks a bit tired then we can help. We offer a quality stone refurbishment service whereby we will clean, hone and polish your natural stone to bring back its luster. Stone being a natural material is porous and therefore subject to staining , so we will also thoroughly seal your stone which will help preserve our refurbishment efforts.

How do we do it?

We will first apply a good stripping greasing chemical to grout lines and give them all a detailed scrub along with a good steam clean. This removes all built up grime and dirt and helps us to get the grout back to its original color.

After the grout has been cleaned we will cut down the stone with diamond pads to remove light scratching  or etch marks. We use a stone cleaning detergent during this process which helps to remove dirt and grime in the stone tiles.

Once the initial cutting and cleaning has been done we are then able to hone the stone by progressively reducing the abrasiveness of the diamond pads through multiple stages in the polishing process. This will allow us to bring the stone tiles up to nice shine that both helps to close the pours in the stone and makes it look great.

Repairs to damaged or etched marble in bathrooms

Quite often we will be called to repair sensitive marble, limestone or travertine in bathrooms and kitchens that have been damaged by harsh cleaning chemicals.

Bleach , Viakal and general unknown tile cleaning detergents are the usual culprits. These types of chemicals alter the surface of the stone by etching or discoloring it and then the only option is to resurface and polish the damaged sections to blend it in with the rest. Appropriate sealing help to prevent these chemicals from effecting the stone so quickly and is a service we provide to all stone that we refurbish.

 

Deep cleaning of unfilled limestone and travertine in bathrooms and kitchens

Its quite rewarding when we find stone that has many years ingrained dirt and grime such as the kitchen in the pic above. We then apply our deep cleaning process and the stone literally comes alive.

In this example the limestone had allot of dirt stuck in all the pours and grout lines that made the stone look dark and dull. We removed all of this and then resurfaced the stone to polish and bring it up to a high shine. Needless to say that the customer was very happy with the dramatic change in their tiles.
