Sandstone Patio and Steps cleaned and sealed In N8 North London Islington

We love nothing more than getting outdoors to clean and refurbish stone and patios in the warmer months. Sandstone can look lovely and new with fairly minimal cleaning efforts and then it can be sealed to help keep it looking fresh for longer. We clean patios and exterior stone in North London , Hertfordshire and are always around Muswell Hill, Crouch End, Barnet etc.

This particular project we completed in two days ( in N8 Islington London)and as you can see by the pic, the before and after effect was pretty good. There was allot of green and black mold deep within the stone which was removed. Mold is not ideal because its spores are poisonous although being in an exterior stone does lessen the risk to humans allot.

How do we remove the mold in sandstone?

We remove this mold with the application of a mold removing chemical that actively kills and dissolves allot of the mold. While the green mold is easily removed the black mold is more difficult and requires several applications to completely remove it.

Once the mold is effectively dead we can then use a pressure washer to remove the embedded remains of the mold and make the stone look nice again. Sandstone really is a lovely bright yellowish colour when clean and the mold really does drag the overall appearance and feel of the area down allot!

Sealing of the clean Stone

Its important to seal the stone properly with a good brand of sealer once it has been cleaned. If this is not done you could find your stone looking moldy and dirty very quickly. The sealer lessens the infiltration of stuff into the stone by making it less porous and allows contamination to rest on the stone surface rather than embed itself and take root deep within the stone itself.

Below the Sandstone steps to the property can be seen after the cleaning treatment. All in all a very happy client with a nice fresh look to this smart stone entrance to this house in N8 Islington London

You can see the difference in the steps that went from a more slippery dull green to a nice bright yellow!
